Ulà Tirso is a small Barigadu village at almost three hundred and fifty metres on the shores of Lake Omodeo, the large reservoir created in the 1920s by damming the Tirso. Medieval in origin, in the Giudicato of Arborea, it took its present name in 1870. The lake waters have submerged the Niu Crobu rock-cut tombs, while the area keeps several nuraghi. Set a little apart from the centre stands the parish church of Sant'Andrea, begun in 1628 and finished over a century later. On 22 July the great feast of Santa Maria Maddalena brings a procession, dancing in the square and poetry contests, and the Sant'Antonio bonfire is lit in January.
