Choosing a port
- Olbia and Golfo Aranci for Gallura, the Costa Smeralda and the east coast.
- Porto Torres for Alghero, Stintino, Sassari and Castelsardo.
- Cagliari for the south; Arbatax for Ogliastra.
Saving money
- Book early: car spaces and cabins sell out for July and August.
- Look for family and car-included offers and compare operators.
- Midweek and overnight sailings are often cheaper and save a hotel night.
- Out of season there are fewer sailings: check departure days.
