Beaches and nature
- Taking sand, pebbles or shells is forbidden and fined; they are seized at airports.
- Some beaches have limited access in summer, with booking or tickets.
- Summer fire risk is high: no fires, barbecues or cigarettes in the scrub.
- On hikes always carry water, a hat and proper shoes: there's no phone signal in the Supramonte.
Distances
Sardinia looks small but isn't: inland roads are slow. One or two well-chosen bases are better than changing hotel every night.
