Nughedu Santa Vittoria

Nughedu Santa Vittoria is a municipality in the Province of Oristano with about 508 inhabitants, 496 metres above sea level.

Nughedu Santa Vittoria is a Barigadu village on the ridge of Monte Santa Vittoria, with panoramic views over Lake Omodeo. Tradition says it grew near a Benedictine monastery surrounded by hazel woods, hence its name. The old upper quarter has striking trachyte houses. In the Cuccuru su Monte necropolis, cut into limestone, some rock-cut tombs keep carved bull's heads, symbol of the male deity. The patron, San Giacomo, is celebrated on 25 July, and in January the Sant'Antonio bonfire is lit.
