Oristano, Sinis and Bosa

Beaches made of quartz grains, the seaside ruins of Tharros and the oldest stone giants of the Mediterranean.

Oristano is the city of the Sartiglia, a carnival joust on horseback. Around it, the Cabras lagoons and the Sinis peninsula are a haven for birdwatchers.

At the tip of the Sinis lie the Phoenician and Roman ruins of Tharros; the beaches of Is Arutas are made of tiny quartz grains. The Cabras museum displays the Giants of Mont'e Prama. Further north, colourful Bosa sits on the river Temo below its castle.
