Ortueri

Ortueri is a municipality in the Province of Nuoro with about 1,262 inhabitants, 585 metres above sea level.

Ortueri is a Mandrolisai village at almost six hundred metres, of Roman origin in an area with many nuraghi; in the Middle Ages it was part of the Giudicato of Arborea. About three kilometres away lies Sa Perda Litterada, a Roman necropolis whose squared stones the villagers reused over the centuries for their houses. Near the village is the Mui Muscas park, created to host the endangered Sardinian donkey. The main feasts are Sant'Isidoro on the first Sunday of May, the patron San Nicola on the third Sunday of May and the Madonna Addolorata in September.
