June and September are ideal for the beach: warm water, fewer crowds and lower prices. July and August are hot, busy and expensive. April, May and October are perfect for hiking, archaeology and villages.
The wind
The mistral from the north-west is the typical wind: it cools, clears the sky and makes the sea rough in the west and north. On those days choose beaches in the south and east.
