Turri is a small Marmilla village among the hills looking towards the Giara, probably grown from one of the area's small Roman settlements; in the Middle Ages it belonged to the Giudicato of Arborea. The area has many nuraghi, including the Cabonu and Su Sensu complexes. With San Gavino Monreale and Villanovafranca it is one of the centres of PDO Sardinian saffron: in autumn the fields turn purple with crocus flowers. The village keeps courtyard houses with monumental gateways and the late Gothic parish church of San Sebastiano from 1500. In June the feast of Sant'Isidoro ends with the harvest festival, re-enacting reaping by hand, sheaf-binding and threshing.
