Siddi

Siddi is a municipality in the Province of Medio Campidano with about 696 inhabitants, 184 metres above sea level.

Siddi is a small Marmilla village at the foot of the Giara di Siddi, a basalt plateau dotted with nuraghi, heir to a Roman station on the road between Usellus and Cagliari. Its most important monument is the Sa Domu 'e S'Orcu giants' tomb, built of large basalt blocks and one of the finest on the island. The village has the 17th-century parish church of the Visitation and the church of San Michele, from the late 13th century, in brown sandstone, Romanesque with early Gothic elements. Siddi has an ornithological museum and a tradition of olive oil and local produce. Sa Gloriosa, the Visitation of Mary, is celebrated on 2 July.
