Triei

Triei is a municipality in the Province of Ogliastra with about 1,126 inhabitants, 140 metres above sea level.

Triei is a small northern Ogliastra village at the foot of the Baunei mountains, medieval in origin in the Giudicato of Cagliari. Its old centre keeps multi-storey stone houses along narrow lanes and the 16th-17th-century parish church of Saints Cosma and Damiano. The area has several nuraghi and the S'Iscusorgeddu giants' tomb, among the best preserved in the area. On the first Sunday of May the Madonna del Rosario is celebrated, organised by a prioress who receives bunches of roses from the prioresses of previous years; the feast is repeated on the first Sunday of October.
