Lotzorai

Lotzorai is a municipality in the Province of Ogliastra with about 2,151 inhabitants, 11 metres above sea level.

Lotzorai is an Ogliastra village close to the sea, formed by merging the old village of Ogliastra, which gave its name to the whole region, with Donigala; the two communities built the parish church of Sant'Elena together in the late 18th century. On a height near the village stand the ruins of the medieval Medusa castle, wrapped in legend. The coast has long beaches and pinewoods, handy for boat trips to the Gulf of Orosei. The biggest feast is San Sebastiano on the last Sunday of May, with a parade of decorated ox carts, the traccas.
