Tiana

Tiana is a municipality in the Province of Nuoro with about 521 inhabitants, 564 metres above sea level.

Tiana is a small Mandrolisai village at the foot of the Gennargentu along the Rio Torrei, with an old centre of two-storey stone houses pressed together along narrow winding streets, around the late Gothic parish church of Sant'Elena. Tiana is known for its gualchiera, the old water-powered mill that beat orbace, the Sardinian woollen cloth: it has been restored and can be visited as a museum. The area holds the Is Forreddus rock-cut tombs and the Mandra Loi nuraghe. In the second week of September the feast of San Leo ends in a procession on horseback.
