Gonnostramatza is a Marmilla village that in the Middle Ages was the capital of the Parte Montis district in the Giudicato of Arborea. Its old centre keeps houses of yellow limestone or schist slabs alternating with mud brick, around the parish church of San Michele. The area is rich in nuraghi, the most interesting being the multi-tower Pranu Aidu, built beside a workshop for obsidian from nearby Monte Arci. On 29 June the feast of San Paolo at the country chapel draws many pilgrims.
