Province of Medio Campidano

Collinas

Collinas is a municipality in the Province of Medio Campidano with about 885 inhabitants, 249 metres above sea level.

Collinas is a Marmilla village, once called Forru, nestled among hills near the Giara. In the Middle Ages it belonged to the Giudicato of Arborea, and in 1928 it absorbed Villanovaforru, later independent again. In the village are the 16th-century Gothic-Aragonese church of San Michele Arcangelo and the 17th-century church of San Sebastiano, built on the ruins of an older one. The area has about ten nuraghi, and on 20 January big bonfires are lit for San Sebastiano.
