Lunamatrona is a Marmilla village between Sanluri and the Giara, in an area inhabited without break since nuragic times. Its most interesting site is the Trobas area, with the Nixias giants' tomb with its curved forecourt and arched stele, six baetyls found in 1946 and a proto-nuraghe. In the village the 16th-century parish church of San Giovanni Battista stands on an 11th-century predecessor. The patron's feast on 24 June is organised by a committee that goes from house to house collecting offerings.
