Serrenti is a Medio Campidano village between Sanluri and Samassi, inhabited since the Neolithic and in the Middle Ages part of the Giudicato of Cagliari. Its old centre keeps many houses built of Serrenti stone, a fine trachyte quarried locally and used in many buildings in southern Sardinia. On the hill of Bruncu Su Castiu stands a four-lobed nuraghe from the Middle Nuragic period. On 2 February Candlemas, with the blessing of candles and the crowning of the Madonna's statue, follows a very old ceremonial, and in summer San Giacomo is celebrated, a feast introduced in Spanish times.
