Samassi is a large farming village in the Medio Campidano along the Rio Mannu, inhabited without interruption from Punic times to the early Middle Ages; in the 19th century it gained a few stately houses. In the upper part of the village stands the church of San Gemiliano, Santu Millanu, the former parish church, while today's parish church is Nostra Signora di Monserrato. The area has the single-tower Argiddas nuraghe. The most heartfelt feast is Sant'Antonio Abate on 16 and 17 January, with su fogaroni, a huge stack of wood around a six-metre pole, around which people dance and sing.
