Guasila is a farming village in the Trexenta, the granary of southern Sardinia, founded in the Middle Ages in the Giudicato of Cagliari. At its centre stands the parish church of the Assunta, a large neoclassical church designed by Gaetano Cima and built in 1842-1852, one of his finest works. In the countryside are the church of Santa Maria di Bangio, last trace of the vanished village of Bangios, and about ten nuraghi. Its most original tradition is the heifer chase, held on 14 August at Pranu Sa Pira during the Assumption feast.
