Pimentel

Pimentel is a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Cagliari with about 1,193 inhabitants, 154 metres above sea level.

Pimentel is a Trexenta village founded in the 17th century by the feudal lord, who named it after his wife's Spanish family, in an area nonetheless very rich in ancient remains. The most remarkable site is the S'Acqua Salida necropolis, with rock-cut tombs in limestone decorated with relief motifs including bull's horns, and the Corongiu tomb with its vertical entrance shaft is also of interest. The village has the church of Nostra Signora del Carmine, as old as the village itself. Feasts are held on 24 June for San Giovanni Battista and in July and September for the patron, the Madonna del Carmine.
