Serramanna is a large farming town in the Medio Campidano along the Rio Mannu, Punic in origin and in the Middle Ages part of the Giudicato of Cagliari. Its territory has yielded pre-nuragic remains such as the Cuccuru Ambudu menhir and the ruins of the Santa Maria nuraghe. The old centre keeps typical mud-brick houses with arched loggias and large stone gateways, sometimes richly decorated. The main feast is Santa Maria di Monserrato, from 8 September for six days at the country chapel of Santa Mariedda, and Sant'Angelo is celebrated on the third Sunday of October.
