Barrali

Barrali is a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Cagliari with about 1,139 inhabitants, 140 metres above sea level.

Barrali is a small Trexenta village, founded in the Middle Ages when two nearby villages, Onigo and Santa Lucia, emptied, and part of the Giudicato of Cagliari. Its old centre has kept its street pattern almost intact.

At its heart is the parish church of Santa Lucia: legend says it was built where a lime kiln stood, after the saint appeared to a girl asking for a church. The main feast, on the first Sunday of July, recalls this story. From Montiuda hill and its nuraghe there is a fine view over the Trexenta.
