Ortacesus

Ortacesus is a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Cagliari with about 933 inhabitants, 162 metres above sea level.

Ortacesus is a Trexenta village of Roman origin, in an area with nuragic traces such as the nuraghe known as S'Omu de S'Orcu, the ogre's house. In the Middle Ages it belonged to the Giudicato of Cagliari. The parish church of San Pietro Apostolo dates from the 16th century in late Gothic style, and in the countryside stands the 16th-century church of San Bartolomeo, where by tradition the first village stood before it was moved in the 17th century because of the plague. The patron San Pietro is celebrated on 29 June, San Bartolomeo on 24 August.
