Osini

Osini is a municipality in the Province of Ogliastra with about 811 inhabitants, 645 metres above sea level.

Osini is an Ogliastra village at 645 metres among the limestone tacchi of Gairo and Ulassai. After the 1951 flood the village was rebuilt higher up, and the ruins of Old Osini remain, like those of Gairo, an evocative place to visit. The area has many nuraghi, above all the Serbissi complex, with a nuraghe, a village and a cave used as a store, on a panoramic plateau. Near the village is the Scala di San Giorgio, a narrow gorge in the rock linked to the legend of the saintly bishop. San Giorgio is celebrated on 23 April with a procession and costumes.
