Ilbono is an Ogliastra village at four hundred metres between Lanusei and the sea, founded in the Middle Ages in the Giudicato of Cagliari. Like many villages in the area it is known for the longevity of its people, studied by genetic research projects. The area is rich in pre-nuragic and nuragic remains, especially the Teddizzò rock-cut tombs in a green spot near the village. In the centre are the 17th-century parish church of San Giovanni Battista and the Baroque church of San Cristoforo. In July the Madonna delle Grazie is celebrated with Sardinian dances in costume.
