Elini

Elini is a municipality in the Province of Ogliastra with about 550 inhabitants, 472 metres above sea level.

Elini is one of Ogliastra's smallest villages, at almost five hundred metres between Lanusei, Arzana and Ilbono, in green country of woods and olive trees. Founded in the Middle Ages in the Giudicato of Cagliari, it keeps its traditional layout of stone houses with courtyards and gardens where olives grow for home-made oil. The area is rich in rock-cut tombs and nuraghi, and the village is a stop on the Trenino Verde. On 2 July the Madonna del Carmelo is celebrated at the country chapel.
