Orroli

Orroli is a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Cagliari with about 2,397 inhabitants, 530 metres above sea level.

Orroli is a Sarcidano village on a basalt plateau overlooking Lake Flumendosa. Its most famous monument is the Arrubiu nuraghe, also called Orrubiu after the reddish lichen on its stones: a five-lobed nuraghe among the largest on the island, its central tower surrounded by five towers and a wide outer wall, excavated systematically since the 1970s. In the village are the late Gothic parish church of San Vincenzo and the Omu e Bidda museum in a traditional house. Among the woods near the nuraghe stands the church of Santa Caterina d'Alessandria, whose feast at the end of June ends in a procession led by the head of the confraternity on horseback.
