Mandas

Mandas is a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Cagliari with about 2,238 inhabitants, 457 metres above sea level.

Mandas is a Sarcidano village at over 450 metres, Roman in origin, when it was one of the main staging posts on the Cagliari-Olbia road; under Spain it was the seat of a duchy. Today it is above all the village of the Trenino Verde: from its station run the scenic lines to Seui and Arbatax and to Isili and Sorgono, among the most beautiful in Italy. The old centre has large stone courtyard houses and a few 19th-century mansions, and the San Francesco complex is among its main buildings. In January the Sant'Antonio feast ends with a great bonfire, su fogaroni.
