Siurgus Donigala is a southern Sarcidano village on the border with the Trexenta, formed in 1929 by merging the two by then adjoining villages of Siurgus and Donigala. In the Middle Ages Siurgus was the chief town of a district of the Giudicato of Cagliari. The area has many nuraghi and overlooks Lake Mulargia. Each of the two cores has its late Gothic parish church, San Teodoro in Siurgus and Santa Maria in Donigala, both from the 16th-17th centuries. On 8 September the feast of Santa Maria di Monserrato ends in a procession with old votive candles carried on the shoulders of the village youths.
