Escalaplano

Escalaplano is a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Cagliari with about 2,268 inhabitants, 338 metres above sea level.

Escalaplano is a village on a plateau between the Gerrei and the Barbagia di Seulo, overlooking the Flumendosa gorges. It was founded after 1353 by Giovanni Carroz, who had received these lands as a fief. The area has Ozieri-culture rock-cut tombs at Sant'Uanni and Fossada, a few nuraghi and the nuragic village of Perducatta. In the village the Renaissance parish church of San Sebastiano, built in 1614-1623, keeps the rose window of the earlier Gothic church. The plateaus and canyons are great for walking.
