Illorai is a Goceano village at over five hundred metres, with the hamlet of Stazione del Tirso, on the border between the old Giudicati of Torres and Arborea, which long disputed it. Its old centre has narrow, irregular streets of multi-storey stone houses and the parish church of San Gavino with 17th-century statues. In 1976 roadworks uncovered by chance the Molia necropolis, a large complex of Ozieri-culture rock-cut tombs, one of the most interesting in the area; there are also tombs at Sa Toa and Sant'Andrea.
