Bolotana is the largest Marghine town after Macomer, laid out like an amphitheatre in a basin below the mountains that separate it from the Goceano, its main street lined with 19th-century notables' houses. Its territory climbs to the Badde Salighes plateau, with forests and the villa of Benjamin Piercy, the English engineer who built Sardinia's railways. The countryside holds dolmens and dozens of nuraghi. San Bachisio and Sant'Isidoro are celebrated in September.
