Where to go

Sassari, Alghero and the North-West

A Catalan city by the sea, Neptune's Grotto, La Pelosa beach and the Asinara park with its white donkeys.

Alghero is Italy's most Catalan city, with sea walls, a cobbled old town and red coral. Nearby rises Capo Caccia with Neptune's Grotto, reached by boat or down 654 steps.

Sassari hosts the Cavalcata Sarda in May. To the north-west, Stintino and La Pelosa beach face the Asinara national park, while Castelsardo climbs a headland crowned by its castle.
