Simala is a small Alta Marmilla village at the foot of Monte Arci, medieval in origin in the Giudicato of Arborea, which was part of a neighbouring municipality from 1927 until after the war. Its territory has several nuraghi and a Roman necropolis at Is Luas that yielded pottery and coins. The village has the parish church of San Nicolò, medieval in origin, and in the countryside stands the church of Santa Vitalia, built in the early 20th century on the site of an older church. The feast of Santa Vitalia, on the first Sunday of October, lasts three days.
