Pompu is one of Sardinia's smallest municipalities, in the Alta Marmilla at the foot of Monte Arci, in an area inhabited without interruption from prehistory to Roman times; it was a hamlet of Masullas until 1970. Its territory holds the rock-cut tombs of Su Stabi de Luxia Arrabiosa and Su Laccu de Su Meli, carefully carved in limestone, and the single-tower Su Sensu nuraghe on a hill. The village has the church of Santa Maria, restored in the 19th century. Feasts are held on 19 and 20 January for San Sebastiano, with bonfires and wine for all, and on 8 September for Santa Maria.
