Armungia is a small Gerrei village among the hills that run down to the Flumendosa, with a nuraghe rising right among the houses. Tradition says the village grew in Roman times from a fortified settlement around that tower.
Its old centre is one of the most interesting inland: courtyard houses, each with a small orchard, around the parish church of the Immacolata built in 1602. Armungia is the birthplace of Emilio Lussu, author of A Soldier on the Southern Front and founder of the Sardinian Action Party, remembered in a museum.
