Codrongianos is a Logudoro village a few kilometres from Sassari, known across the island because its territory holds the basilica of the Santissima Trinità di Saccargia, the symbol of Sardinian Romanesque: a church striped in black basalt and white limestone with a tall bell tower, consecrated in 1116 and entrusted to Camaldolese monks. The village parish church of the Conversion of Saint Paul is very old and much altered, and the area has many nuraghi, including Nuraghe Nieddu, built of black trachyte blocks.
