Cargeghe

Cargeghe is a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Sassari with about 644 inhabitants, 333 metres above sea level.

Cargeghe is a small Logudoro village a few kilometres from Sassari, founded in the Middle Ages in the Figulinas district, long held by the Malaspina. The old centre gathers around the 18th-century parish church of Santi Quirico e Giuditta, in a Piedmontese-style Baroque, and on a nearby height stands the 15th-century church of Santa Croce de Altu. The area has a few nuraghi and the rock-cut tombs of S'Elighe Entosu. The patron saints are celebrated on 15 July.
