Florinas is a Logudoro village on a hill south of Sassari, heir to the Roman town of Figulinas, whose name recalls its pottery kilns. In the Middle Ages it was one of the Malaspina strongholds. The village is dominated by the Assunta complex: the 14th-century Gothic parish church, the rectory and the 17th-century oratory known as Sa Cresixedda. The surrounding land is very rich in rock-cut tombs and nuraghi, evidence of continuous settlement since prehistory.
