Bulzi

Bulzi is a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Sassari with about 552 inhabitants, 201 metres above sea level.

Bulzi is a small Anglona village founded in the 11th century near a Benedictine monastery. Of that monastery remains, in a little valley just outside the village, the church of San Pietro delle Immagini, a jewel of Sardinian Romanesque with a striped limestone and basalt façade. The area has many nuraghi, including Rodas by the Silanis stream, and a giants' tomb. The 18th-century parish church of San Sebastiano was partly built with stone from the old monastery, and on 20 January a great bonfire burns in front of it.
