Perfugas is an Anglona village in the Coghinas valley, in an area frequented as early as the Palaeolithic: some of the island's oldest artefacts were found here and are displayed in the Archaeological and Palaeobotanical Museum, together with local fossil tree trunks. Right in the centre is the nuragic sacred well of Predio Canopoli. The 15th-century parish church of Santa Maria degli Angeli holds the large retable of San Giorgio, with dozens of painted panels, and on the outskirts stands the Romanesque church of Santa Maria in red trachyte and white limestone in a chequered pattern. The area also has the Ariete rock-cut tomb, and the Madonna degli Angeli is celebrated on 2 August.
