Tergu

Tergu is a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Sassari with about 614 inhabitants, 280 metres above sea level.

Tergu is a small Anglona municipality near Castelsardo, formed in recent times from seven small clusters around the ruins of a Benedictine monastery, independent since 1983. Its treasure is the Romanesque church of Nostra Signora di Tergu, built before 1117 by the judges of Torres and given to the monks of Montecassino, with a fine façade of red trachyte and white limestone; beside it lie the ruins of the great monastery. The area has a few nuraghi and the Roman necropolis of Monte Rizzu. The feast of Nostra Signora is held on 1 May and 8 September.
