Valledoria is a village on the Anglona coast at the mouth of the Coghinas river, an independent municipality since 1960. Its growth is recent, tied to the reclamation of the lower valley and the creation of Lake Coghinas, which made fertile land available for irrigated crops: today artichokes are the village's typical product, celebrated with a spring festival. The territory includes a long golden sand beach with dunes and pine woods, between the hamlets of San Pietro a Mare, La Ciaccia and Maragnani. At the river mouth, where tradition places ancient Ampurias, stands the little church of San Pietro a Mare, and the valley keeps the remains of a Roman bridge. The estuary is popular for canoeing and birdwatching, and the Casteldoria hot springs are a few kilometres away.
