Martis

Martis is a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Sassari with about 553 inhabitants, 300 metres above sea level.

Martis is a small Anglona village that passed to the Doria by the 12th century, with an old centre of multi-storey stone houses. Its territory holds a geological rarity, the Carrucana petrified forest, with fossil tree trunks millions of years old emerging among the hills. In the village you can see the ruins of the Gothic church of San Pantaleo, where the patron is celebrated on 27 July, and the parish church of San Giuseppe. Among its nuraghi the multi-tower Orria stands out in a fine panoramic spot.
