Bonorva

Bonorva is a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Sassari with about 3,669 inhabitants, 508 metres above sea level.

Bonorva is a large Meilogu town overlooking the Santa Lucia plain, with an old centre of elegant stone houses around the parish church of Santa Maria Maggiore, begun in 1582. Its territory holds one of the most evocative sites of Sardinian prehistory, the Sant'Andrea Priu necropolis, whose rock-cut tombs became early Christian cave churches that still bear frescoes. Nearby are the Su Lumarzu sacred spring, many nuraghi and the tiny village of Rebeccu, perched on a rock spur and tied to a famous legend.
