Bonnanaro is a south-facing Meilogu village in a well-watered area at the foot of Monte Pelao. Its name belongs to a prehistoric culture: the rock-cut tombs of Corona Moltana gave their name to the Early Bronze Age Bonnanaro culture. In the village stands the late-Gothic church of San Giorgio from 1530, and just outside is San Basilio, the old parish church of the vanished village of Nigor. Bonnanaro's cherries are among the best around Sassari and have their festival in June.
