Silanus is a Marghine village at almost five hundred metres at the foot of the range of the same name, in an area very rich in rock-cut tombs and nuraghi. Its most famous spot is the small Byzantine church of Santa Sabina, centrally planned with a dome, standing in the countryside beside the nuraghe of the same name: together they form one of Sardinia's most evocative images. The old centre keeps large stone houses with wooden balconies and the 15th-century church of Santa Croce. On 16 and 17 January the feast of the patron Sant'Antonio Abate ends with a great bonfire in the square.
