Asuni is a village of a few hundred people between the Marmilla and the Barigadu, in the Noeddas valley. Its origins are very old: on the small hill of San Giovanni the Carthaginians built a fortress over a nuragic village to guard the routes into Barbagia.
The area has several nuraghi and rock-cut tombs, and nearby stand the legend-wrapped ruins of Medusa castle, which lies in Samugheo but is also known as Asuni castle. In mid-October the village celebrates San Daniele and Santa Vitalia.
