Ardara is a small Logudoro village today, but in the Middle Ages it was for a long time the residence of the judges of Torres, the rulers of northern Sardinia. From that past remains Santa Maria del Regno, the judges' palace chapel and one of the island's most important Romanesque monuments, with three aisles and a large 16th-century altarpiece.
The surrounding land between Ploaghe, Ozieri and Mores is full of nuragic remains, with over twenty nuraghi and several giants' tombs. The main feast is Nostra Signora del Regno on 9 May.
