Aidomaggiore is a farming village between the Abbasanta plateau and the Tirso valley, overlooking the shores of Lake Omodeo. It grew from a Roman settlement near the river's main ford and in the Middle Ages belonged to the Giudicato of Arborea.
Its territory is one of the richest in nuraghi in the area, with around forty. In the village you can visit the Gothic-Catalan parish church of Santa Maria delle Palme and the 14th-century church of San Gavino, and a few kilometres away stands the country sanctuary of the Vergine delle Grazie.
