Villa Verde

Villa Verde is a municipality in the Province of Oristano with about 335 inhabitants, 204 metres above sea level.

Villa Verde is a small village on the slopes of Monte Arci in the Parte Usellus area, known in the Middle Ages as Bannari, in the Giudicato of Arborea. It regained its independence in 1947 and took its present name in 1954. The area has many nuraghi and Roman remains, including those of Bruncu S'Ena, probably a camp guarding the road. The village has the parish church of Santa Prisca, ancient in origin but rebuilt in modern form. Trails lead from the village to the summits of Monte Arci and its obsidian outcrops. The feast of the Assumption, the patron, is held over two days on the Sunday after mid-August.
